CHARACTER INFORMATION
Background:
History
Since his father was human, Rex Stewart was born without wings, but even so his mother taught him everything about their culture and the Thanagarian way of life, including all about nth metal, a unique iron with special properties that was the cornerstone of Thanagarian technology. From a young age, Rex was obsessed with learning as much as he could about nth metal, eventually building his signature nth metal armor and wings in order to fly.
When he was 18, Rex decided to travel to Thanagar and see his mother's homeworld first hand. The Gordanians still tules the planet, and there was a meagre resistance mostly comprised of injured amputees who had lost their wings in the war and been left behind. Rex used his skills to construct artificial wings for the others, and led the reinvigorated rebellion to reconquer Thanagar. After they successfully drove the Gordanians offworld, the Thanagarians returned to their planet.

DCAU Justice League Wiki Entry, for some context.
Justice League Beyond is an extension of the DC Animated Universe. Superheroes are commonplace and generally well regarded, the Justice League has long been established and is considered the Elite of Earth's heroes. The Justice League Beyond are the 'next generation' of heroes, the latest to make up the team. If you're at all familiar with the Batman Beyond universe, that's what we're talking about here.
Warhawk is a legacy hero; both his parents (John Stewart/Green Lantern & Shayera Hol/Hawkgirl) were founding members of the original Justice League. During the Thanagargian Invasion of Earth, it was revealed Hawkgirl had been a spy for the Thanagarian Empire, reporting intel on human defenses and weakneses, including information on all other members of the Justice League, believing the Thanagarian army would be building a shield generator to help defend Earth from their enemies, the Gordanians. After discovering that the true plan was to destroy Earth and create a hyperspace bypass to jump straight to he Gordanian homeworld and win the war, Hawkgirl betrayed the Thanagarians and helped save the Earth. This was the Thanagarian's last chance to defeat the Gordanians, and shortly after their planet was conquered and their army was decimated. Hawkgirl was considered a traitor to her people and the one responsible for the destruction of their civilization.
